Role Summary:
A Clinical Nurse Practitioner (CNP) is an advanced practice nurse who plays a pivotal role in providing comprehensive healthcare services to patients across the lifespan. CNPs work autonomously or in collaboration with other healthcare professionals, diagnosing and treating illnesses, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, prescribing medications, and managing overall patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Care: provide holistic care to patients, including health assessments, diagnosis, and management of acute and chronic illnesses.
Treatment Planning: develop and implement personalised treatment plans based on patient assessments and evidence-based practices.
Prescriptive Authority: prescribe medications and treatments within the scope of practice and in accordance with regulatory guidelines.
Collaboration: collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers to ensure coordinated and comprehensive patient care.
Health Promotion: educate patients and their families on health promotion, disease prevention, and self-care management strategies.
Documentation: maintain accurate and detailed patient records, documenting assessments, interventions, and outcomes.
Quality Improvement: participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and optimise healthcare delivery.
Requirements:
Education and Certification: degree in nursing with specialisation as a Clinical Nurse Practitioner, along with current licensure and registration with SANC
Experience: prior experience as a Clinical Nurse Practitioner or in a similar advanced practice nursing role is preferred.
Skills: strong clinical assessment skills, critical thinking abilities, and proficiency in developing and implementing treatment plans.
Adaptability: flexibility to adapt to changing patient needs, healthcare protocols, and practice environments.
