We are currently expanding our team in KwaZulu-Natal and are seeking dedicated Enrolled Nursing Assistants with theatre experience to join our esteemed workforce.

Role Summary: 

An Enrolled Nursing Assistant (ENA) plays a crucial support role within a healthcare team, working under the supervision of registered nurses and doctors. ENAs are responsible for providing basic patient care, ensuring comfort, and assisting with daily living activities and clinical procedures. Their work is fundamental in hospitals, clinics, and other healthcare settings, contributing significantly to patient recovery and wellbeing. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Patient Care: assist patients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, and eating. Monitor and record vital signs like temperature, pulse, and blood pressure. 

  • Clinical Support: prepare patients for examinations, assist in basic procedures, and ensure that patients are comfortable and informed about their treatments. 

  • Equipment Maintenance: clean and sterilize medical equipment and ensure that supplies are stocked and organized. 

  • Documentation: maintain accurate patient records, including documenting vital signs and reporting any changes in patient conditions to the nursing staff or doctors. 

  • Infection Control: adhere strictly to infection control protocols to prevent the spread of disease within the facility. 

  • Team Collaboration: work closely with registered nurses, doctors, and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care to patients. 

  • Patient Mobility: assist in moving patients within the healthcare facility, including transferring them between their bed and a wheelchair or stretcher. 

Requirements: 

  • Education and Certification: completion of an accredited program for Enrolled Nursing Assistants and registration with the relevant nursing authority or council. 

  • Experience: previous experience in a healthcare setting is preferred, especially in specific areas like theatre or surgical wards, but not always mandatory. 

  • Skills: excellent communication and interpersonal skills, basic clinical skills, and the ability to follow detailed instructions. 

  • Physical Requirements: capability to perform physically demanding tasks such as lifting and moving patients and standing for extended periods. 

  • Personal Qualities: compassion, patience, resilience, and a strong desire to help and care for others. 

  • Other: willingness to work shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, depending on the healthcare facility's needs.
